' I hope I can still call former Labour colleagues friends' - Corbyn quit councillor



A Leicestershire councillor who quit the Labour Party after Jeremy Corbyn was re-elected as it leader has paid tribute to his former County Hall colleagues.
Leon Spence resigned from the party at the weekend after the result of its leadership election was announced.
He said it would be hypocritical of him to stay because he had been a vocal critic of Mr Corbyn.
On Wednesday he attended his first fully county council meeting since parting ways as independent member for Whitwick
He sat slightly behind the Labour group during the meeting rather than with them.
