I didn't lock young girl outside in snow or beat her, insists Derby 'cruelty trial' accused
 

A Derby woman, who faces historical allegations that she was cruel to two children, has begun her defence.
Gayle Megill took the stand at Derby Crown Court where she denied she was ever cruel to a girl.
Her husband, Neil Megill, 48, had been accused of two counts of failing to protect the children from her actions.
But on Friday, one of the two counts against him was dropped.
The couple, of Islay Road, Sinfin, are on trial at Derby Crown Court charged with the offences that allegedly happened at addresses in Sinfin, Allenton and Stenson Fields from 1991 to 2004. They deny all charges.
