Hurricane Matthew: Newcastle holidaymakers are left stranded in Florida



North holidaymakers returning to Newcastle Airport from Florida have been caught up in the arrival of Hurricane Matthew.
Hundreds were told their flight from Orlando Sanford, expected to leave at 4pm on Friday, has been grounded for 24 hours.
Thomson Holidays said the decision had been taken in the interest of passenger safety.
They will now be in Florida when Matthew is expected to hit landfall causing massive winds and flooding.
Thomson said the passengers had been put up in hotels as the storm which has killed hundreds in the Caribbean nears the US.
