Hurricane Matthew CARNAGE: People left fearing for lives as 'truly frightening' storm hits
 

The weather system, which has recorded wind speeds of 145mph, is battering the impoverished nation of Haiti before it is estimated to make landfall in Florida and hug the US’ eastern coastline. 
Those riding out the fiercest storm to hit the Caribbean in a decade have been left with no food, power or water as the storm downed trees and power lines and caused disastrous mudslides. 
One father described his dire situation, saying: “My wife, little boy and I live in Fermathe 25kms from Port au Prince and at least 5500' above sea level.
