Hundreds stranded on London Eye for more than three hours
 

More than 500 people were stranded on the London Eye for three-and-half hours after a mechanical problem.
The ferris wheel on the South Bank of the River Thames experienced problems and stopped turning at 19:21 BST and people were trapped until 22:40 BST.
A passenger in the pod called the fire brigade at about 21:53 BST but guests were able to leave without their help.
A statement from Merlin Entertainments said: "This was a technical issue and at no point was anyone at risk".
The ride has reopened this morning.
