Hundreds gathered in Hanley Park for Stoke-on-Trent's first ever soap box derby



Contestants revved up for some wacky races as Stoke-on-Trent hosted its first soap box derby.
It saw them navigate a 400-metre track across a river and round bends, chicanes and obstacles.
Delighted crowds watched the action at Hanley Park on Sunday, which attracted people from as far away as Yorkshire and South Wales.
The competition catered for both juniors and seniors, something that a lot of other soap box derbies don't do.
People got to race their own designs.Now following the success of the inaugural event, the organisers want to make it an annual attraction.
