‘Hull Gold Man robbery accused’s phone was 21 miles away from attack’



An alleged gunman in a terrifying and violent robbery is innocent if he was using his mobile phone at the time, a court heard.
An elderly jeweller known as "The Gold Man" was bound and beaten by two masked men during a 30-minute ordeal at his east Hull home on May 16 last year.
The robbers, whom prosecutors claim were assisted by their then partners, escaped with more than £30,000 in cash and jewellery, and also made off with his black Range Rover, with its personalised "G14 OLD" number plate, Hull Crown Court has heard.
