Hull City owner Assem Allam paid £100,000 in bid to oust Jeremy Corbyn as Labour leader



Hull City's controversial owners Assem Allam and son Ehab gave MP Owen Smith £100,000 in his failed bid to oust Jeremy Corbyn as leader of the Labour Party.
New figures reveal that one of the largest donors to Welsh MP Mr Smith in the recent leadership contest was Allamhouse Ltd, a company controlled by Mr Allam and his son based at Melton West Business Park near Hull.
The donation was paid on September 1 last year and is described in Mr Owen's official register of interests as "£100,000 to support my campaign for leadership of the Labour Party".
