Huge tyre fire sends plumes of smoke across Bootle



Dozens of firefighters tackled a huge tyre blaze which sent plumes of black smoke over Bootle.
Drivers were forced to turn on their fog lights along Derby Road as smoke clouds blew from the fire on Dunnett Street on Wednesday evening.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue said they were first called at around 5.35pm and said they had received a number of calls from members of the public.
The smoke appeared to be coming from a heap of tyres on fire half way along Dunnett Street - which joins Brunswick Place and Lower Bank View.
