How to cut a cake: Mathematicians reveal the technique to make sure everyone is happy (but be warned, it could involve 203 cuts)

More than 50 million cakes are eaten every day around the world, but how many of them are cut into envy-free slices?
Two computer scientists have solved this problem with an algorithm that evenly divides a cake based on the number of people, not individual preferences.
The system uses protocols that focus on players valuing their own piece enough that they will not be envious of anybody else's - the process can take between three and 203 cuts of the cake.
