Housebuilding buoys construction industry



The UK’s construction sector expanded for the first time in four months in September following a “swift recovery” in housebuilding.
The Markit/Cips construction purchasing managers’ index (PMI) out today reached 52.3 last month, up from 49.2 in August – where any reading above 50 indicates growth.
UK construction companies moved back into expansion mode during September Tim Moore The expansion is in stark contrast to the industry’s slump in the aftermath of the Brexit vote when activity fell to 45.9 in July.
