House prices continue to outstrip inflation, but growth starting to slow, new figures show
 

Latest data from the Halifax showed UK house prices rose 3.9 per cent in the last year to November. But this is down 0.6 per cent on the year to October, which saw a 4.5 per cent rise. Rising inflation and low wage growth are blamed for the sluggish growth. The building society says the average UK house price now stands at £226,821, although figures published separately by the ONS showed this varies significantly by region. Numbers from September show the average house price in London is more than £480,000 and less than £130,000 in the North East.
