House of Fraser becomes latest high street name to fall victim to bad weather as sales stumble at the start of the third quarter



Chinese-owned department stores group House of Fraser saw its first half earnings rise, but also admitted that sales were hit amid the washout August weather at the start of its third quarter.
The high street firm said trading in the opening weeks of its third quarter were challenging, with overall sales growth slowing to 5.3 per cent in the 33 trading weeks logged so far, down from 6.5 per cent for the first 26 weeks.
Nevertheless House of Fraser, which has 60 stores across the UK and Ireland, remained upbeat for a 'successful autumn/winter season'.
