Horse rescued from ditch by fire fighters after it was sedated by a vet



Fire fighters rescued a horse from a deep ditch off Meadow Lane, Syston this afternoon
A crew from Eastern fire station, and the technical rescue team from Southern fire station attended the incident shortly after 5pm
Fire fighters found the horse lying in a three foot ditch, involving an electrical fence which had been switched off before the fire service arrived.
They cut the cables before an assessment of the horse was carried out.
The vet sedated the horse and the animal was extricated by crews.
The horse was led to its own field by fire service personnel, the vet, and its owner.
