Homes could be built on medieval field on Great Glen outskirts



Developers want to build 170 homes on a medieval ridge and furrow field near a village.
Miller Homes has filed plans with Harborough District Council for land off Oak Road in Great Glen.
More than 100 people have signed a petition opposing the scheme.
And a public meeting on the proposals has been organised for October 19 in the village hall starting at 6pm.
Nearby resident Professor Craig Vear, who is opposing the project, told Harborough District Council in a letter that the scheme was the "unacceptable land-grabbing of areas of open countryside".
