HMP Birmingham prison riot 'under control' after seven hour stand-off



HMP Birmingham was back in control of G4S this morning after a riot saw prisoners take control of one wing of the jail.
Disturbances began when an unknown number of inmates refused to return to their cells at the end of the evening at HMP Birmingham, a category B and C jail.
G4S, which runs the jail, said the incident was "brought to a safe conclusion" at around 11.45pm.
A number of prisoners are understood to have now been moved out of the prison, standard procedure after any disturbances.
