Hillsborough disaster justice campaigners honoured with Freedom of the City of Liverpool
 

The 96 supporters who died at the FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest on April 15, 1989, will also be awarded the Freedom of the City posthumously.
The city’s highest civic honour will be presented to those who played a pivotal role in the fight for truth which saw a jury last month rule the 96 fans were unlawfully killed and exonerated Liverpool supporters.
The Right Reverend James Jones, the former Bishop of Liverpool, who chaired the Hillsborough Independent Panel whose report led to the quashing of the initial accident death inquest verdicts is honoured.
