Hazlerigg man pleads guilty to causing death of popular swimming instructor by careless driving
 

A man has pleaded guilty to killing a cyclist by careless driving.
Swimming instructor Daniel Rushton died after he was involved in a crash as he cycled home from work in Newcastle on January 27 this year.
The 20-year-old, originally from Haydon Bridge, Northumberland, had been returning to the house he shared with his girlfriend in Hazlerigg at around 9.30pm when he was involved in an accident on the Great North Road, near the junction with Forsyth Road.
Paramedics attended and he was taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary but later died from his injuries.
