Hate crime rises by 7% on Merseyside as police promise crackdown on trolls
 

Hate crime on Merseyside has risen by 7% this year - with statistics highlighting an increase in racist incidents.
Serious crimes have included a racially-aggravated stabbing and the daubing of swastikas on walls and doors in a recent graffiti spree.
But Merseyside Police chiefs believe the rise is also down to victims having more confidence to report abuse - and today re-iterated the force’s commitment to helping those targeted.
Any incident seen by the victim - or any other person - as being motivated by prejudice or hate could potentially be considered a hate crime.
