Hajj negotiations break down as Sauds accused of sabotage



IRAN will send no pilgrims to Saudi Arabia this year for the annual hajj pilgrimage, Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister Ali Jannati said yesterday.
Tehran blames Saudi “incompetence” for a crush and stampede in the holy city of Mina during last year’s hajj that killed at least 2,426 pilgrims, including 464 Iranians.
Negotiations between Iran and Saudi Arabia have been trying to “resolve the issue” of security for months but failed to make any headway, said Mr Jannati.
