Gwynedd man travels to Catalonia to cast his vote in independence referendum



Barcelona was at a standstill today as pro-independence supporters staged a general strike in protest over violence during Sunday’s controversial referendum.
Schools, metro stations and roads are closed with most of the disruption taking place in and around the Catalonian capital.
The strike was called in protest at “the grave violation of rights and freedoms” seen during Sunday’s ballot.
Almost 900 people were hurt as Spanish police tried to prevent voting, in a referendum declared illegal by the Madrid government.
