Gwynedd holiday home owner claims doubling of council tax bill would 'infringe human rights'
 

Doubling council tax on second homes is a "discriminatory" and "punitive" measure which "comes close to infringing natural and human rights", claims a holiday home owner in Gwynedd.
The county council is to consider raising or doubling rates on second homes from April 1, 2018, following decisions by Flintshire, Powys and Pembrokeshire to raise rates by 50% from April 1, 2017.
Anglesey and Ceredigion have agreed to raise rates by 25%, while other councils are considering similar increases under powers introduced by the Welsh Government.
