Gun crime fears causes school to change its name

Guns Village Primary School in West Bromwich will be known as Hanbury Primary by the end of September.
The decision was announced in June as parents were told the school’s governors would be holding consultations to discuss new names for the school following a spike in gun across Birmingham and the Black Country.
Despite the historical nature of the school which dates back to 1878, headteacher Dawn Cooper wrote to parents saying the name didn’t represent what they wanted to say about the school.
