Grimsby lorry driver risks own life in major A46 crash to avoid killing others



A selfless lorry driver from Grimsby took the desperate decision to ditch his petrol tanker in a field off the A46 to save the lives of others.
In a horror crash, Robert Sykes, 41, sustained serious injuries in the collision back in April, but says that he did so to avoid hitting other drives causing an explosion that would have caused devastation in a half-mile radius.
Robert, a Conoco Philips worker, said he thought the lorry's tank could have exploded at any moment, and urged stopping motorists to get away from the scene – in case the tanker blew up on the A46.
