 Grieving rapist jailed after drunken attack on woman

A Southport man was today jailed for six years after being convicted of raping woman while he was drunk.
Philip Green, 53, was convicted of the offence by a Liverpool Crown Court jury after a trial.
Sentencing him Judge Robert Warnock described it as “a sad case, primarily for your victim”.
The judge added: “This incident came about in part because of what I take to be unresolved grief you had at the death of your wife and in consequence you drank to excess and lost self-control.”
