Greening rejects divided communities fears over plans to drop faith schools cap



Government plans to scrap a cap placed on faith schools which requires them to recruit at least half of their pupils from a different background will not lead to divided communities, the Education Secretary has insisted.
Ministers are planning to lift restrictions which require oversubscribed faith schools to make 50% of places available to children from other religious communities and non-faith backgrounds.
Justine Greening told MPs that the current rule is "generally inoperative" for many schools because it only kicks in when they are oversubscribed.
