Great Howard Street reopens today after grain silo finally cleared



Liverpool’s Great Howard Street is reopening this afternoon after a grain silo declared unsafe was finally demolished.
The former grain silo is being knocked down by Harcourt Developments, the firm that is renovating the giant Stanley Dock tobacco warehouse next door.
But after fears were raised about rubble falling into the road, Liverpool council’s building control department declared the building “unsafe” and closed Great Howard Street.
Operations on the canal below were also affected.
