Great Britain set to miss their World Championship medal target as Katarina Johnson-Thompson falls short in the high jump in London



Another night, another couple of near misses at the World Championships. This time it was Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Morgan Lake who just failed to make that step from contender to medallist in the high jump.
For both women it was the height of 1.97m that scuppered them, with Johnson-Thompson finishing fifth and her team-mate sixth.
In the case of Johnson-Thompson, there was a degree of redemption, considering it was this discipline that wrecked her chances in the heptathlon.
