Grandmother Juanila Smikle jailed for seven years for child cruelty

A grandmother was today jailed for seven years after she was found guilty of cruelty towards five children - including tragic city schoolgirl Shanay Walker.
Juanila Smikle, 55, was convicted of the cruelty allegations after a trial at Nottingham Crown Court last month.
Smikle, of Easegill Court, Top Valley, was arrested after an investigation began following the death of her grandchild, seven-year-old Shanay, who spent some time in her care. The youngster died from a brain haemorrhage in July 2014.
