MY great-grandmother, Alice Mellor, lived in Nuns Street, Derby, opposite the Three Nuns Inn, which she opportunistically visited, when she could afford it, to fill her jug with beer.
Gran had black hair, peppered grey, which was plaited and pulled back in a bun and, to me, she was very small and old.
