A gran whose sprained ankle led to deadly sepsis battled for life as her daughter gave birth yards away in the same hospital.
Elizabeth Ormond, 61, had emergency surgery to save her life and leg three days after going over on the ankle.
Doctors had to break the news of the operation to daughter Nicola, 33, as she waited to be induced for the birth of her second child.
And Elizabeth, who also developed the devastating flesh-eating bug necrotising fasciitis, did not learn of the birth of baby Louie until he was three weeks old.
