Grade-II listed former St Gabriel's convent gutted by fire in Woolton

A Grade-II listed former convent in Woolton has been destroyed after a blaze broke out at the historic building.
Firefighters were called to St Gabriel’s on Beaconsfield Road, which once housed a convent and children’s home, at around 6:30am on Wednesday morning after a local man raised the alarm.
John Roy, whose home backs on to St Gabriel’s, watched on as firefighters battled the flames, only for the top floor of the building to collapse.
