Government considering Leicester City Council bid to be able to fine landlords over 'To Let' boards



The Government is considering whether to let Leicester City Council have powers to fine landlords up to £2,500 if they leave out unsightly 'To Let' boards through the year.
The council submitted a bid earlier this year for powers to restrict the display of boards after complaints from people who live in parts of the city near De Montfort University and Leicester University where it is a problem with student homes.
The approach was made because landlords largely failed to comply to a voluntary code of conduct set up to try to tackle the problem.
