Gold Cup-winning owner Alan Potts dies aged 80 just three months after the death of his wife 



Alan Potts, who achieved a lifelong ambition when Sizing John carried his colours to victory in the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March, has died aged 80.
Potts passed away after a long illness, less than three months after his wife Ann died.
The South Yorkshire-born owner enjoyed his best season in 2016-17. As well as the Gold Cup, Jessica Harrington-trained Sizing John won the Irish Gold Cup and Punchestown Gold Cup, while stablemate Supasundae won the Coral Hurdle.
