‘Glitter and glue’ parenting is unfair and offensive to women
 

I don’t have kids, so thankfully I haven’t had to read many parenting books yet. 
But as I get closer to a time where I’d like to become a parent, I’ve been more engaged by some of the pressurizing, judgmental and sometimes totally ludicrous things that women are told when they become mothers.
I was smacked in the face this morning by a quote from the book Glitter and Glue, which presents their family dynamic as this:
‘Your father’s the glitter but I’m the glue’.
