Glasses that know when you are smiling and could help treat people with facial paralysis are being researched in Nottingham.
Nottingham Trent University is working on technology that detects facial movement and can help in the rehabilitation of conditions such as facial palsy.
People with facial palsy currently practice rehabilitative facial exercises in front of a mirror but, according to Nottingham Trent, many dislike seeing their own reflection as it reminds them of their condition, and it can make them feel discouraged and stop exercising altogether.
