Girl, 7, with diabetes is banned from school trip because of hospital appointment
 

A little girl with diabetes was told she can’t go on a school cinema trip to reward pupils with perfect attendance – because she had to attend a hospital appointment.
Children at Blackmoor Park Junior School, in West Derby, will be eligible for the fun activity if they attend school 100% of the time over the next half-term.
But medical appointments are not exempt – meaning Olivia Harkins, seven, who has type 1 diabetes, will miss out because she had to see her consultant at Alder Hey.
Her mum Liz accused the school of discrimination and said Olivia was devastated.
