Giant electronic advertising board plan rejected because it ‘would distract drivers’



Plans to put a giant electronic advertising screen by Burley's Fly-over have been rejected because of fears it would distract drivers along the busy route and cause crashes.
Advertising firm Primesight wanted to put the six metre high display facing traffic heading clockwise along the inner ring.
However highways officials at Leicester City Council warned it may lead to motorists watching the screen when they ought to be keeping an eye out for vehicles switching lanes as they neared the overpass.
They successfully persuaded their colleagues in the planning department to reject the plan.... read more
