Get on the road for less: The 10 cheapest cars to insure for young drivers revealed



Young drivers have to fork out around £8,000 in the first seven years after passing their test just to be on the road.
The astonishing figure has been calculated by Comparethemarket.com, which says insurance accounts for around half of that fee, costing an average of £1,247 each of the first seven years a 17 to 24-year old driver is behind the wheel.
But there are cars that cost nearly half as much as that to insure - as long as you're willing to drive something small.
