Ronaldo moved to United for £12million from Sporting Lisbon as an 18-year-old in 2003.
After a number of stunning seasons at Old Trafford, he moved to Real Madrid in 2009 for a then world-record £80m.
And Neville is adamant United made the Portuguese star the player he is today.
“He didn’t arrive at Manchester United as someone who was setting the tone for everybody else," Neville told talkSPORT.
"It wasn’t a case of he came in and all of a sudden everyone else upped their game, that’s not how it was.
