Sam Allardyce may not have contributed much to the England cause but he did at least do his successor a favour. If caretaker boss Gareth Southgate avoids being filmed drinking a pint of wine or uttering the words 'keynote' and 'speaker' in the same sentence, he will be deemed a success. The bar for England managers now is lower than it has ever been before. And that is saying something.
