In all likelihood Gareth Southgate will be the man who takes at the very least temporary charge of the national team while a long-term replacement is found.
But how much do you know about the 46-year-old?
September 3, 1970: Southgate was born in Watford but grew up in Sussex for the most part.
He attended Pound Hill Junior School and then Hazelwick School, both in the town of Crawley.
