Auto-update 08:41 UK house price growth stalls but values hit a new high UK house prices in the first three months of the year were 0.1 per cent lower than at the end of 2017, marking the second quarter of decline. 
However, they were up 2.7 per cent on last year, hitting a record average of £227,871, according to the latest Halifax house price index.
The monthly figure, which can be volatile, shows a 1.5 per cent increase - the highest since August last year.
