FTSE LIVE: Footsie starts flat after hitting intra-day record as sterling rallies; Fed minutes awaited 



08.15: The Footsie was flat in early trading after failing to deliver a record closing high yesterday having hit an all-time peak earlier in the session, weighed by falls overnight from US and Asian stocks and a strong rally from lows by sterling.
In opening deals, the FTSE 100 index was off 1.3 points at 7,069.6, having closed 26.62 points lower yesterday, dropping back after reaching a new record trading high of 7,129.83 at lunchtime.
Overnight Asian shares hit three-week lows following a dour start to Wall Street's earnings season which knocked US blue chips 200 points lower.
