FTSE CLOSE: London shares finish above 7,000 as pound slips after 'flash crash'



17.10 (close): The FTSE 100 index at the close was up 44.43 at 7044.39.
15:00: The Footsie was 46 points higher at 7,045.87p.
Meanwhile in the US markets were trading lower after weaker-than-expected jobs figures, although chances of an interest rate hike remains possible, according to analysts. 
The US unemployment rate edged up from 4.9 per cent to 5 per cent and net jobs growth was a slightly lower than expected at 156,000, according to US non-farm payrolls data.
