FTSE 100 higher in early trade
 

(Open): UK shares rose in early trade, while the recent sell-off on the bond market showed signs of easing.
The FTSE 100 rose 49.33 points, or 0.7%, to 6,802.51. Top risers on the index included Pearson, Hikma Pharmaceuticals and Land Securities.
Shares in Easyjet rose 1.5% despite the carrier reporting a near-30% fall in annual profits.
However, the results were in line with forecasts, and the airline also said it planned to make "meaningful" savings.
Yields on 10-year UK government bonds fell slightly, as the recent sell-off on the bond market paused.
