From torture to luxury: The sadistic hotel trend sweeping Italy
 

Hoteliers have begun to capitalise on the sadistic events of the 16th century. 
Dungeons and tribunals once used by the Vatican during the Holy Inquisition have become prime real estate. 
Places haunted by death and torture have been transformed into luxury hotels and spas. 
Fine restaurants, wine tasting and truffle hunts are offered to curious guests. 
The ‘Inquisitors’ palaces’ are now resorts offering guided tours to highlight the dark history contained within their walls.
