Bathers hoist up their long skirts and breeches as they paddle in the waves at a seaside resort, Highland cattle peer curiously at the camera and a once grand castle surrounded by a moat now crumbles, overgrown with ivy.
A series of enchanting pictures gives a delightful snapshot into Scotland's Victorian past, depicting both towns and countryside as they were in the 1880s.
From a distance, the prints look deceptively like colour photographs, but, by using the complex Photochrom process, artificial colour has in fact been added to black-and-white images.
