Four years of fining Derby parents over term-time holidays has netted at least £275,000
 

More than 4,500 penalty notices have been issued to parents for taking their children on holiday in term-time without permission in the past four years – netting at least £275,000 in fines.
The number of penalty notices issued by Derby City Council has risen steadily year-on-year, to around 4,600, despite the danger of receiving a £60 fine per parent per child - doubling to £120 if not paid within 21 days.
