Four 'rescued' from smoke-filled redundant factory by firefighters - ready for the real thing



New recruits in the fire service in Grimsby were given a baptism of fire in a training exercise in town.
The redundant Haith’s seeds factory in Park Street was the venue for a training exercise today.
Crews were put through their paces in rescuing four people from a smoke-filled building.
Humberside Fire and Rescue Service Watch Manager Andrew Tees told how the exercise aimed to recreate a rescue of people trapped in a building.
"We used cosmetic smoke and had 13 crew members using three of the Grimsby appliances to rescue people from the ground floor," he said.
